Well she's walkin' through the clouds with a circus mind that's running around.
Butterflies and zebras and moonbeams and fairytales.
That's all she ever thinks about, ridin' with the wind.
When I'm sad she comes to me with a thousand smiles...she gives to me free.
It's alright, she said, it's alright. Take anything you want from me. Anything. Anything.
Fly on Little Wing.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, Little Wing.
I've heard this song a million times over the course of my life--the Stevie Ray Vaughan version. I just recently heard the original Jimi version and was absolutely blown away. Jimi was a great singer; he always had so much emotion, no matter what it was. Happy, cheeky, hopeful, despairing, everything. And he was, of course, the greatest guitarist to ever walk the planet. (Even Dad agrees with that. Dad says that if Jimi had lived, he would have been the biggest fucking thing ever.)
This is another one of those songs that can just make me cry, no matter how cheery the lyrics are. It's the tone of the song itself that just touches me. The tune behind it. And Jimi's voice. I love Stevie Ray Vaughan, but he just doesn't share the emotion in this song that Jimi had.
Wasn't Jimi one of Stevie's idols?
I like Stevie. Stevie was awesome. Dad's a huge Stevie fan, and like most of my music tastes, I got it from him at an early age. X3 I've even got Pride and Joy as a ringtone for my cellphone (Which is about the only reason I use my cellphone--to play Tetris and download ringtones although nobody ever calls me).
